Rajan Mohire is an architect by qualification and has done his NIS certificate course from Lakshmi Bai National College of Physical education, Trivendrum, Kerala. Rajan Mohire started the academy at a young age of 19 in the year 1997. The main aspect of coming up with the academy was to produce players and promote the game of Badminton in and around Belgaum city.

HISTORY

The academy was started in the year 1997 on 1st September with a handful of students at Samarthya mandir's Chanda Pai and Gogte Badminton hall. the main moto of the academy was to produce good players at the highest leve. The academy also came up with its sister concerns at Union Gymkhana, Camp, belgaum in June 1998, at Social Club, College Road, Belgaum in August 2000 and Belgaum district Badminton Association Courts, Mahabaleshwar Nagar, Belgaum in the year 2006.

The academy had good talanted players like Neeraj Kulkarni, Darshan Kulkarni, Alok Ragate, Vibha holla, Kinjal Pawar, Devika Tadkodkar who represented Karnataka state at various school nationals, Pre-university nationals, all India rankings,Inter-universities. All these players have also won and are still winning a number of tournament held at various levels. Its because of these players who performed consistantly enabled the academy to promote the game in and around Belgaum city.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ACADEMY

Vibha Holla was the first girl from the Academy who made it to the finals of the state ranking tournamant held at Belgaum in the year 1998.

It took nearly four years for the academy to make an impact at the state rankings when Suneet Dixit made it to the finals on three ocassions and finally won the under-10 title at the third attempt. From thenonwards there was no turning back.

The start of the year 2003 was very memorable as Neeraj Kulkarni and Apurva Jagdale who were representing Karnataka state at the All India Inter-School Nationals held at Surat made it to the finals in under-17 Boys and Under-14 Girls (team Event) respectively. Neeraj had to be satisfied with the Silver medal and Apurva went on winning the Gold. In this particular year the academy trainees went on making it to the finals at almost all the state rankings. The academy started doinating the under-10 Boys and Girls category and the under-16 players upsetting many top seeds on the way to the finals. In the month of September the academy tasted success at the all India Ranking held at Bangalore where the duo of Rajas Jawalkar and Himansu Kotbagi made it to the finals of the Under-10 Boys Doubles. The duo won a number of titles in Under-10 Boys Doubles and continued their consistent performance in Under-13 category.

In the year 2004 Rajas Jawalkar completed a memorable Hatrick by winning three consecutive under-10 singles titles at the state rankings. The academy trainees started making it to the finals on regular basis in the year 2005. the year 2006 saw another splendid performance of the under-10 trainees who made it to the finals at the All India Rankings held at Mumbai in the month of January. The academy trainees beat India No 1 in Under-10 boys at the all India Rankings held at Cochin. The academy trainees won three state rankings in a row where they swept everything in the under-10 boys categories. The dio of Himansu and Rajas won almost all the state rankings and made it to the state team in Under-13 Boys category. Rajas Jawalkar, Sayali Malgave were selected in the Karnataka State team and represented the State at the Sub-Junior nationals held at pondichery.

Rajas partnering Himanshu secured the third place in the under-13 boys Doubles. Darshan Kulkarni, Sayali Malgave, Apurva Jagdale got selected in the state team for the Pre-Unievrsity Nationals. Sayali also got selected in the under-19 State team and represented Karnataka at the Junior Nationals held at Panchkula. Darshan Kulkarni and Ninad Kamat who represented jindal steel at the all India inter-Steel Tournamant held at Vizak secured the Runner-up position. Rajas Jawalkar,Sahitya Dodannawar and Devina Kamat got selected in the state team for the Inter-School Nationals to be held in the year 2007 at Chattisgarh. Darshan Kulkarni, Apoorva Jgdale, Sayli Malgave won the Gold medal in under-19 Boys and Girls team event respectively. Devina Kamat and Sahitya Dodannawar won the Bronze medal in under-17 Girls team event.
